What is professional dog training?

Dog training is the process by which a dog learns the coexistence, obedience and behavior patterns that allow it to develop in balance alongside its family. It goes far beyond teaching «tricks»: it works on communication, confidence and the emotional management of the animal.

At ROCK A DOG we have been doing professional dog training for over 15 years in Barcelona, Vallès Oriental and Maresme. We always work with positive reinforcement, adapting each program to the breed, age and specific history of the dog.

We work exclusively with positive reinforcement dog training techniques. The dog learns by associating correct behaviors with pleasant experiences, without physical punishment or coercive devices. This methodology is more effective in the long run, respects animal welfare and strengthens the bond with the family.

Dog training formats

Individual sessions

Fully personalized plan for you and your dog. Ideal if there are specific behavior problems or you need close attention. Includes sessions at your home, outdoors or at our facilities.

Group training

Small-group classes for basic and advanced obedience, socialization and sports. Very useful to work with distractions and for the dog to learn around other dogs.

Puppy program

Specific training for puppies from 2 to 6 months. We take advantage of the critical socialization period to build the foundations of a balanced adult dog.

Behavior modification

For dogs with fears, reactivity, aggression or separation anxiety. Professional protocol with follow-up and, if necessary, coordination with your vet or a behavior specialist.

We offer in-person service in Barcelona and throughout Vallès Oriental: Granollers, Vilanova del Vallès, Mollet del Vallès, Cardedeu, Cànoves, La Garriga, Les Franqueses del Vallès, Parets del Vallès and nearby towns. We also cover areas of Maresme such as Argentona and surroundings.

Frequently asked questions about dog training

The earlier, the better. With puppies, education and socialization can start from 2 months old, adapting intensity and session length. Adult dogs can be trained at any age, although it may take a bit longer if behaviors are already well consolidated.

It depends on the goal and starting point. For basic obedience, 8 to 12 sessions are usually enough. For behavior modification (fears, reactivity, aggression) we usually talk about 3 to 6 months of consistent work with follow-up. In the free initial consultation we give you a realistic estimate.

Yes. Behavior modification is one of our specialties. We design a personalized protocol, in controlled environments, always prioritizing the safety of the dog, the family and third parties. When needed, we coordinate our work with your vet or a behavior specialist.

No. We work exclusively with positive reinforcement. We do not use e-collars, prong collars or physical punishment techniques. Scientific evidence shows that positive reinforcement is more effective and much more respectful of the dog's welfare.
